Wadard Books is part of Matthew Finch Design Consultants Limited (MFDC) a graphics group specialising in design for print and publishing and founded in 1969 by Martin and Pamela Finch. The bookshop started in 2001, deals in antiquarian and out of print collectors' books and represents not only a logical extension fo MFDC, but the realisation of an ambition for us, as lifetime collectors of antiquarian books.
Our personal interests are in antiquarian gastronomy, country books and rural subjects. However, we also have strong lists in military history (all periods), British topography, Kentish history and Natural history.
The shop is situated in Farningham, Kent, just outside the M25 boundary (junction 3) and is housed in a listed 17th-century building in the High Street.
The village of Farningham has iron age origins, with much Roman settlement, and is today, still predominantly 18th Century in character. The shop is named after Wadard, one of Farningham's Domesday landlords, a henchman of Bishop Odo and featured on the Bayeaux tapestry.
